This program is designed to fulfill the market demand for trained culinarians in the hospitality industry. Emphasis is placed on instilling excellent culinary skills while producing well rounded culinarians equipped to enter the fast-paced environment. The adult learner will be diverse in the areas of food and beverage operations, entrepreneur skills, baking and pastry arts, as well as advanced culinary skills. The program also emphasizes teamwork, personal accountability, communication skills, professional development, and financial literacy. The ConnCAT Culinary Arts Academy will put the adult learner on the path to success in the hospitality industry with the opportunity to purse academic credits at a regional institution. Graduates of the program will have the skills and certification for various foodservice positions in hospitals, restaurants, hotels, assisted living facilities, cruise ships, and schools. Graduates will have the opportunity to acquire their national Food Service Protection Manager certification while enrolled in the Culinary Arts program. This program has been designed to fulfill the market demand for trained health system coders and billers for the private practice setting. Emphasis is on adult learners’ ability to analyze medical records and identify and properly assign International Code for Disease Current Procedural Terminology codes. No medical background is required, however students with strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills are strongly encouraged to consider this field. Courses include, but are not limited to anatomy and physiology, disease pathology, professional development, and financial literacy. Graduates of the program will have skills useable for positions in various healthcare settings including physician offices and billing services, health insurance companies, and inpatient and outpatient hospital departments. Graduates will also qualify to sit for the following certification exams: AAPC’s CPC exam (certified professional coder) and CPB exam (certified professional biller).
This program is designed to fulfill the market demand for trained phlebotomists in the healthcare industry. Emphasis is placed on patient preparation and specimen collection, packaging and transportation. In addition to learning essentials of specimen collecting, students will be taught the importance of customer service as a staple of this career pathway. Courses included but are not limited to anatomy and physiology, phlebotomy theory specimen collection procedures, professional development, and financial literacy. Graduates of the program will have skills useable for positions in various healthcare settings including laboratories, inpatient and outpatient hospitals and facilities. Graduates will also qualify to sit for the National Phlebotomy Association national certification exam.
